Anna Hazare, India Against Corruption starts fast, faces chances of arrest

After rejecting 6 of 22 conditions by the Delhi Police, Anna Hazare is facing chances of arrest.

Today, it’s another day for you and me. Just another day if we don’t care about what happens to our country, to our family and to families which we never bothered about. At the same time, it might not be another day for your, if you care, believe and trust that “still” there is hope for us to make a change in our systems – political, administration and judicial.

While we all will walk down the roads, running along with the crowd to reach office, schools and colleges on time, there would be a group of people fasting for a better India. There are chances that their actions might have vested interests hidden behind their strong voice calling against a corrupt India, but don’t each of us vested interests? Otherwise, why in a country of a billion people, we still have to feed a peon of the passport office, bribe the police officer who catches us for breaking rules? Why do we have to always pay donations to enter an institution?

I agree to the logic of government going against a bill-draft made by India Against Corruption, since it is like pushing a bill by-passing the routine parliamentary procedures; its somewhat like blackmailing the government. But does it realise why a group of well-known activists had to resort to this “blackmailing”? One of the finest officers ever seen by the independent India, Kiran Bedi, too is going unconstitutional?

This isn’t time for the government to hide behind the shutter bugs and unleash their loose-canon members to throw stones at Anna Hazare and team. This is time they stood up for the nation. The time, they realised that it’s not always about securing your seats and heating up your pockets with money stolen from the funds for those Below Poverty Line.

We hope the Elected group of politicians haven't forgotten this.

We too, should not just stay at our offices and let the few “insane” people talk for us. We (the youth) want a better India and unfortunately, we can remain Gandhis only for some more time. Let the government not forget that every Indian has not only been taught about Mahatma Gandhi, but Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekar Aazad.

Today when team Anna and India against corruption will start its “unconstitutional” fast, I would like to hear all the Congress workers say Vande Mataran, and not Vande Mata Rome!

  1. it would be better if we limit the issue to LOKPAL bill , it would be like any other political campaign the moment mud slinging on any of the political figures gains momentum . There should be no space for Sonia / Rahul or any other politician bashing in this forum.

    • Thanks Anil for your comments. I agree with your point that mud slinging is making this more of a political movement than civil movement. I would have appreciated if the people would have stuck to the cause, than personality. At the same time, I must add that it was foolish on the part of UPA to play Rahul’s card and stating that Anna was released after Rahul spoke to the PM. Who is he anyway?

  2. By doing all this to Anna they are indirectly proving that corruption is the mode of their survival. their only source of earning. Corruption is the air they breathe. Struggle for independence in a independent nation what a situation?

  3. I agree Dinesh. This movement is now getting out of hand. The government can’t always try draconian methods to counter allegations against its people.
